68. Primetime Emmy Awards: Die Nominierungen

Alljährlich geben die Verantwortlichen der amerikanischen Fernsehakademie Mitte Juli die Nominierungen für die Primetime Emmy-Awards bekannt. Diese Liste ist so ausführlich, dass die Gewinner seit Jahren in zwei unterschiedlichen Primetime-Shows bekannt gegeben werden. Vor allem durch die "Creative Emmys", also Kategorien wie bester Schnitt, Tonschnitt oder Hairstyling, können Formate sehr viele Nominierungen einsammeln.

Dabei hat sich dieses Mal erneut «Game of Thrones» als Platzhirsch herausgestellt. Nach den 24 Emmy-Nominierungen in der vergangenen Saison erhielt die Fantasyserie dieses Mal immerhin 23 Nennungen, unter anderem in diversen Schauspielkategorien. Eine Serie haftet dem HBO-Renner direkt an den Fersen: Der Neustart «American Crime Story» überzeugte mit 22 Nominierungen, die Geschichte um O.J. Simpson brachte den Kabelsender FX somit auch im Gesamtrennen der Sender weit nach vorne. Aufgrund dieser Ausbeute wurde einige Streaming-Serien nach hinten gedrängt, «House of Cards» etwa wurde dagegen "nur" 13 Mal nominiert.

Dennoch: Netflix verbesserte sich gegenüber dem Vorjahr von 34 auf 64 Erwähnungen, Amazon stieg von 12 auf 16 Stück. Größter Verlierer ist der Pay-TV-Riese HBO, der unter die 100-Marke fiel. Statt wie im Vorjahr auf 126 Nominierungen zu kommen, wählten die Mitglieder der Akademie nur 94 Mal eine der Pay-TV-Serien. Der Bezahlsender darf somit auf hohem Niveau klagen, denn mit seinen annähernd 100 Emmy-Nominierungen ist HBO immer noch die deutliche Nummer eins unter den Sendern.
